Devlog #1
Forecheckers Hockey » Devlog
I'm just getting started with this itch page, but here's a rough outline of my progress up to this point:
9/13:
- Hid the cursor using a Playmaker action (cursor.visible wasn't working in script).
- Applied another hacky solution, but it worked.
9/12:
- Fixed an issue where getting wrecked lowers your camera; still requires more testing.
- Continued addressing random minimap bugs; may have fixed it.
- Working on ice scratches rotation system and tested water bottle pops between periods.
9/11:
- Resolved minimap bug where bounds were too wide; centered the minimap.
- Set up FSM for the camera to look at the puck when holding the "E" key.
- Implemented an arrow that points to the player’s movement direction.
9/10:
- Worked on camera head bob but found it jarring. Attempted to use the FEEL asset for it but faced issues.
- Fixed faceoff spots and puck indicator disabling during faceoffs.
- Worked on camera shake script and faceoff positioning.
9/9:
- Fixed faceoff mechanics (still rough but functional).
- Adjusted net shader and added goalpost colliders.
- Tweaked puck sound effects and implemented a head bob on the camera.
9/6 - 9/5:
- Applied a toon shader to brighten the graphics.
- Adjusted bounciness of the net and its constraints.
- Began optimizing performance, including framerate capping and collision enabling/disabling.
9/4:
- Managed to fix faceoff trigger placement, but still troubleshooting puck drop randomness.
- Continued work on faceoff mechanics, including force application to the puck.
8/31 - 8/30:
- Fixed a bug causing players to go off balance while shot-blocking.
- Successfully implemented free puck-handling mode, allowing sensitivity adjustment for smoother control.
- Started renaming prototype sprites for Team A.
8/29:
- Resolved issues with player-goalie interaction and adjusted speed regulations for the breakaway system.
- Fine-tuned collision and angle for scoring based on distance to the net.
8/28 - 8/27:
- Set up and tested the breakaway system with middle mouse button controls and time slow effect.
- Implemented snapshot mechanics with nine target points for shooting.
8/26:
- Debugged puck possession issues within AI.
- Fixed red team shooting while blue team was still unresponsive.
8/25 - 8/24:
- Fixed passing and shooting mechanics for the red team, but blue team remained problematic.
- Began addressing inconsistencies in puck possession and variable resets in FSMs.
8/23 - 8/22:
- Overhauled the player AI, tackling issues with puck possession events triggering incorrectly.
- Improved team-based puck possession logic, with progress made on debugging puck handling mechanics.
8/9 - 8/4:
- Solved issues with blue team AI mistakenly shooting on their own goal.
- Adjusted player aiming targets and raycasting to improve shot accuracy.
- Continued testing and debugging to eliminate puck possession glitches and AI responsiveness.
7/29 - 7/3:
- Implemented player movement using a force-based system instead of NavMesh.
- Set up waypoints for faceoffs and ensured smooth transitions between states.
- Made significant improvements to goalie AI and save logic based on puck position.
6/30 - 6/23:
- Designed an algorithm to determine shooting chances based on player position and puck proximity.
- Optimized player AI to focus on distance to the net for shot decision-making.
- Fine-tuned defensive and offensive player behaviors within newly defined rink zones.
