**This game features immersive spatial audio as a key gameplay mechanic. Headphones/earbuds are STRONGLY recommended for the best experience.**

Peek is an atmospheric, sound-driven deduction horror game that relies heavily on spatial audio to uncover clues. In this ritual-based survival experience, a restless presence stalks the room in tense rounds, leaving audio clues in all directions around you. Close your eyes, listen carefully, and track the direction, distance, and nature of each sound to piece together the ritual and end her pain.

You are Father Herman Goldie, summoned by the Ranford family to cleanse their den of its former occupant, the late Edna Maney, whose body was found under mysterious circumstances in the attic weeks ago. Though her remains have been removed, something else still lingers.

Your predecessor, Father Marron, attempted the rite but fled within minutes, his face slashed, his sight lost forever. Now, it falls to you to finish what he could not...

You kneel in the center of a 5x5 grid of blessed salts, tasked with cleansing the space of a hostile spirit. As it prowls nearby, subtle variations in footsteps, movement, and silence itself become your only tools. Identify what you heard. Retrieve the correct relics. Place them carefully. But be warned: mistakes won’t go unnoticed.

And most importantly...

DON'T PEEK!

The Ritual (game loop):

Father,

1) Turn off the room light and start the ritual.

2) Wait for her to arrive and listen for clues.

3) Wait for her to leave, shutting the attic hatch.

4) Check the book. The clues will tell you what you need.

5) Take the correct items from the crate and place them correctly.

6) Restart the ritual and await her validation. Flashing lights are a good sign. If not, listen again. Keep going until she's gone.

P. S. If you hear her open the attic hatch, DON'T LOOK. Wait for her to leave.

God be with you. - M

Hi there, I am DragonExplosion and I am a Youtuber. If you like my videos, please leave a like and subscribe at my channel.

I would like to thank Loyal Mussy for inviting me to play the demo of Peek as it is definitely an honour on my end to play any horror game. I am surprised that there are still horror game creators out there who remember me for my past horror game videos and reviews so thank you Loyal Mussy for remembering me XD.

I actually have not encountered a game like this before and am unsure if there are other similar games like this. Hence, this is a creative and interesting horror game concept that I have not played before. I have played horror games that focus on sound cues but having to pay attention to the position of the sound and differentiate the sound itself as a main game mechanic is much tougher than what I have definitely played. Other than that, I appreciate the voicing acting done for the cassette tapes but it would be cool if it was more dramatic and emotional XD.

Honestly, this game was quite challenging for me as I am not really good at differentiating the position and sounds in real life in the first place so it was tough for me to play the game. It took me quite a bit of time before I managed to beat the very "Forgiving level" and I took a few attempts at the "Uneasy level" as well. The "Uneasy level"  was much more challenging as different types of relics can be placed depending on the sound or noise that the ghost make. Thus, I wasn't able to complete the "Uneasy level".

There was a part of the game that I found confusing which would be the differentiation between the various noises made by the ghost. It would be better for me if the noise of the ghost was much more louder when it is close to me and the different possible sounds and noises made by the ghost is distinctive and easy to differentiate from one another.

An issue that I faced while playing the game was that there were a few times where I wasn't really sure whether I placed items on the carpet as it was either not visible or barely visible. Thus, it would be cool if this was fixed.

Overall, at the moment, the game feels more like a level-based game where you try to clear the increasing level of difficulty to "level-up". I feel that the game has a lot of potential in terms of single player story mode and multiplayer mode. In a single player perspective, I was wondering if the creator intends to turn this game into an actual horror game with a compelling storyline? This could involve the main character travelling to different places to perform the exorcism where each map cam have a distinct horror story that the main character learns about before eventually arriving at a shocking conclusion about himself or the dead character who left the recordings behind etc. In a multiplayer perspective, there could be a cooperative game mode or versus game mode for everyone to work together to determine where the relics should be placed. (These are just some suggestions or thoughts I have in mind.)

Thank you for reading my long comment and I wish you good luck in your future endeavours.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to leave this comment and to also play the game! I am at work right now, but I look forward to checking your video out later. A few answers for you:

-Yes, differentiating the direction from which the sounds are directly coming is a constant struggle, and one  in which I continue to strive to improve. I have both under and overcorrected based on feedback, and most peoples' experiences with the iterations seem to alternate between being way too difficult and then way too hand-holding. But, I'll keep at it.

-I don't really have any ideas to make a single player storyline at this time. It's definitely a very cool idea with a lot of potential, but as I do this as a hobby between school, work, and kids, I have to be sure to keep my scope in honest check and try not to bite off more than I can chew!

-Hmm, I'll have to look into the issue about not being able to see the item after placement. I haven't seen this issue before, but I'll check it out. They can be sometimes difficult to see when the light is off (like the rosary), but I haven't seen them disappear. I wonder if maybe they're sinking into the carpet...I recently edited the carpet's texture, and I'm wondering if I may have bumped up it's Y position a bit on accident.

Again, thanks for your invaluable feedback and for taking the time to reply!

I really enjoyed this demo I look forward to seeing more in the future.

Awesome game! I'm terrible at it but I had a lot of fun playing it. Can't wait for the full release!

Thanks for playing! I will check this out right now, can't wait. I'm working on a more robust tutorial and easier beginning difficulties, so that should help. Until then, thank you for your play and your patience!
